MKHmfg (My Knees Hurt Manufacturing) started as a documentary and has since grown to include endless possibilities. My name is Benjamin Rupp. All I have ever really wanted to do was shoot and edit video, from the first time I picked up a camcorder in high school, to working my way through college freelancing sports, to how I spend my days now, I have always longed to capture images and tell stories. I am an editor, videographer, photographer, producer, director, have a hat? I'll try it on.

I will take your company or personal project from concept to completion, utilizing my extensive cinematography, editing and motion graphics skills. I draw from over 20 years of broadcasting and production experience and connections to bring stories to life. What's your story? Together we can tell the world.
Since 2021 I have been working full time for the Seattle Science Foundation, a surgical training non-profit as their Digital Media Specialist. I serve as a "one man video department". I shoot, edit and design all the promotional video content. I also direct/technical direct and produce all their live streaming content. I have also designed logos and other graphics for all their course, giving each a unique look and brand identity. I also manage all the social media and the YouTube channel, including all media management and graphic design.
With the exception of the music used (credit given where applicable), the work samples below are 100% me, produced, directed, captured, edited, designed and delivered by Benjamin Rupp.

I've been hesitant to put together a "Sizzle Reel" of my work, I have instead opted to post complete works with context and a narrative, but the time has come. So here is a reel demonstrating my diversity as a videographer. Most of this was shot just before or during the pandemic, including some highlights from the pandemic hiking series and a trip abroad just before the world shut down. Enjoy.
One of many promos shot and edited for the Seattle Science Foundation, a surgical training non-profit.
I have worked full time for the Seattle Science Foundation since 2021. My title is "digital media specialist", which is a little misleading. I serve as the entire video and graphic design department for this surgical training non profit. I not only generate promotional materials, but I also live direct/technical direct and produce all day course and surgical live streams. This promo was shot over the course of a month during SSF's mini-med school. All solo with a combination of Lumix cameras and mostly Canon lenses.

"Why do you teach at SSF" Youtube Shorts
This series was devised as a quick and easy way to highlight a wide variety of doctors on the SSF social media channels without having to set up individual interviews or shoots outside of SSF courses. I shot them teaching during courses and then did very brief on the spot interviews where I simply asked them "why they teach" and "what makes SSF unique". No lighting other than ambient light was used. Shot with a Lumix S5IIX and an on camera shotgun microphone.
The cadaver lab is very loud, voice isolation processing was used to salvage the audio, this resulted in the interviews sounding different than the "b-roll". I actually like how it sounds live and there is seperation between the two segments.

Bottlehead Corp manufactures tube based audio kits, similar to those sold by companies like Eico and Heathkit in the 60's and 70's. Their fearless leader and "president for life" Dan Schmalle dons the moniker of Doc B for his online forums and web site. He also recently set a land speed record on his 1962 Honda Super Hawk. He is an "international man of mystery" if there ever was one. He deserved a kick ass theme song/video intro... so Musician Arthur Khu and I made him one. This ongoing series will address various stages of the kit building process in hope of making the user experience smoother and frustration free. Shot with a Panasonic GH5, two Panasonic GH4s and a variety of lenses, lights and microphones.
